The lighter handle construction is ideal for difficult or uncomfortable situations. IRWIN Record bolt cutters made their debut in 1923. A bolt cutter consists of two drop-forged steel handles, which open and close the jaws through a compound action and built in stops will yield rather than break for safety. This action means that every pound of force applied to the handles is amplified to produce 80lbs of force between the jaws. The jaws are dropforged from a special steel and machined to precise specifications. This produces a resilient body and rigid cutting edge.
